Why Would Ben Give Up A Successful Business?
Meet Ben Splude … 27 years old originally from Norfolk. Why would Ben give up a home and successful business and move half way across the country to become an electrician?
Ben had successful haulage and storage business based in Norfolk but the trouble was that he was stuck behind a desk all day and didn’t find it rewarding or fulfilling enough for him. So he decided to sell the business and move south.
Both his wife and he were avid sailors and they had family in Hampshire so those chose to move to Southampton. Ben had been involved in a few property renovations in the past and found the electrical side of it very interesting … so just like that Ben thought “I’ll become an electrician.”
So as quickly as he decided to become an electrician he found the training provider that met his criteria … made the move to Southampton and started his training.
Ben did struggle a little at first with the course … so again in another instant decision he decided to find an electrical company that would take him on while he completed his training.
And within in a day Ben had an interview with Ampfield Electrical … and after the interview Ben was offered a job … just like that!
Ampfield employed five other electricians so Ben was working and learning with some very experienced guys … picking up all kind tips and tricks of the trade.
After a few weeks of working with Ampfield, Ben went back to NCS for another Practical training session and found that he now had the confidence he was lacking before.
He breezed through the course and Ampfield Electrical offered him a full time job without hesitation. Since then Ben has gone onto work on large commercial jobs such as a Toyota Showroom, as well as working in team doing lots of residential jobs.
In a short space of time Ben has gone from running a haulage business in Norfolk to moving down to Southampton, retraining as an electrician and getting a full time job.
